Many musicians nowadays are self-taught.

They search YouTube for any kinds of videos to learn how to play their instrument.

These free videos talk about chords and scales, but when you don't have a certain level of understanding basic music theory, many misconceptions are made.

Over teaching thousands of students over the past 30+ years, I've noticed more and more that people “don't know what they don't know”.

Especially when it comes to forming and understanding chords and scales.

This can especially be a problem when the chords are in challenging keys and when the chords have many extensions added.

The following video comes from a common problem I have seen amongst many of my students, and from comments and emails I get from subscribers and on YouTube.

When it comes to spelling chords in a song, there's 1 mistake that you need to avoid if you want to play the correct notes within the chord.

Watch this video to find out what it is, how to avoid it, and your next best step.
